Professional Certification Conference

The San Diego Postal Customer Council and the San Diego Chapter of the Mail Systems Management Association (MSMA) are working together to host a one-day Professional Certification Conference. Conference attendees will be eligible to earn the Mail Design Professional (MDP) Certification from the United States Postal Service and the Mail Design Consultant (MDC) Certification from the Mail Systems Management Association. Gordon Glazer, President of San Diego Postal and Shipping Equipment will be conducting the conference with the assistance of USPS officials.

 

This conference combines the information needed to understand how to do Automation Mail while including a thorough review of mail Types and Classes along with Extra Services. The conference is designed to shorten the training cycle for those wishing to earn their MDC and MDP certifications. It explores the latest rule changes along with basic and advanced requirements. The goal is to explain the “why” along with the rules to “give you a better understanding of mail.” Most important, it is designed to help you avoid common mistakes and pitfalls along with tips to improve the performance of your mailings.

 

Two Certification Options:

 

Mail Piece Consultant (MDC) $50

The MSMA offers the MDC certification designation. The MDC test is an open-book, pass/fail, online exam focusing on the mailing and shipping industry. Those attending the conference will be able to register to take the exam. The cost to take the exam is $50 and registrants have up to 60 days to take the exam. With successful completion, applicants will receive this valuable designation and certificate. For best results we recommended reading thru the MDC study guide prior to attending the conference.

Mail Piece Professional (MDP) $75

The USPS offers the MDP certification designation. The Mailpiece Design Professional MDP is the only mailpiece design certification program approved by the U.S. Postal Service. This online course is ideal for those who wish to maximize their proficiency in designing letter-size and flat- size mail to meet USPS® standards and obtain certification as a Mailpiece Design Professional.

This course is includes:

       Postal addressing standards

       Classes of mail and processing categories

       Intelligent Mail® and parcel barcode formats and print specifications

       Designing automation letters and flats (tabbing, polywrap, deflection, flexibility, etc.)

       Reply mail (Business, Courtesy, Meter, Permit Reply and Merchandise Return Service)

       Address Information products and Move Update

 

Those attending the conference may pre-register to take the MDP exam in the late afternoon (2:30-4:30pm) following the training or at their own leisure. The cost to take the MDP exam is $75 and there is no time constraints associated with this exam.
