CERTIFICATION is a process whereby an individual is evaluated and tested in order to determine that he or she has the necessary qualifications and has mastered the specific body of knowledge that has been designated by the organization as requisite for effective performance in their profession.  After successfully completing the qualification process and successfully passing the written examination, a qualifying individual can be “certified” as being an accredited professional.
The MSMA offers three opportunities for professional certification.  The CMDSM for professional mailers, the CMDSS for suppliers to the mail and distribution industries and the Mailpiece Design Consultant (MDC).

Certified Mail & Distribution Systems Manager (CMDSM)

To recognize professional managers, the MSMA has established the Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Manager (CMDSM) program. This certification process provides for an individual to be evaluated, tested, and certified on the body of technical knowledge and management skills necessary for performance in the profession.  Today there are over 350 CMDSM accredited professionals in the mail system management profession.

Certified Mail & Distribution Systems Supplier (CMDSS)

The Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Supplier (CMDSS) is the foremost certification program for mail and distribution industry suppliers.  The Mail Systems Management Association certifies that candidates that pass the CMDSS Exam have the necessary qualifications and skill sets, and have mastered the specific body of knowledge designated by the Association as requisite for effective performance as a mail communications industry supplier.

Mailpiece Design Consultant (MDC) Certification
Designing a mailpiece impacts your company's bottom line in many ways:
      -
Costs to design, print and mail the mailpiece
      -
The costs of bad address quality  - dealing with returned mail
      -
Non-Conformity to USPS regulations can un-necessarily increase your postage costs,
-Poorly designed pieces may never get there or get opened
Every company and mailer should employ an expert to make sure that the piece qualifies for Automation and Workshare discounts.
The MDC exam features 100 multiple choice questions and requires a passing grade of 90 percent.
Pass the exam and receive your certificate immediately!  Proudly proclaim your achievement by adding your MDC certification to your title.
Certification is good for two years, and then must be renewed.
If you require a re-test, you may take the exam one additional time at no extra charge. (At the end of the exam, you will be notified of the questions that you missed, along with the actual response that you gave).
